Is Physiotherapy for me?
While it is well-known that physiotherapists treat injuries, increasing numbers of people are also turning to Physiotherapy because they want to take control of their health and stay well.
Physiotherapy extends from health promotion to injury prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, maintenance of functional mobility, chronic disease management, patient and caregiver education and occupational health.
Everyone can benefit from Physiotherapy whether you are living with a chronic illness, recovering from an injury, or preparing for childbirth.
-
Will it hurt?
Physiotherapists always seek to minimise pain and discomfort, even if it is chronic or long-term. They work within your pain threshold to help you heal, and restore movement and function.
Your therapist may utilise modalities such as clinical massage, shockwave therapy, dry needling, and electrical stimulation during your treatment.
These modalities may cause zero or slight discomfort depending on the severity of your impairments.
It is therefore important that you communicate the intensity, frequency, and duration of pain to your therapist so that he/she can adjust your treatment plan if required.
-
How do I find the right therapist for me?
We have a multi-disciplinary team with specialists who are experts in their own fields. Their strong expertise allows for internal referrals and collaborations to provide a holistic care that best meets your needs.
Our physiotherapists are also capable of providing consultations in 4 different languages: Bahasa Indonesia, English, Mandarin, Dutch.
Call us today and our friendly secretariat team will help to match the best therapist for your specific needs.
-
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
We are always happy to work with an extended medical network but a doctor’s referral is not necessary as Physiotherapy can be your first option.
Singapore Research has also found out that if you hurt your lower back, starting Physiotherapy within the first 14 days can save you on average, S$2,700.
Self-referral can help you to eliminate costs and time when you get direct access to the right care for your condition.
-
How long does each session last?
Initial sessions last 45 minutes to ensure sufficient time for assessment and treatment. Subsequent sessions are typically 30 minutes.
If you are a working professional wondering how to fit this into your busy schedule, fret not.
We have consultations starting as early as 7am and ending as late as 9pm. Saturdays we are also open from 9 am til 5 pm.
-
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Depending on your diagnosis and the severity of your impairments, you may require just one visit or you may need months of care.
At PhysioActive, we also focus on patient education during our treatments. Our therapists not only provide you with information about your condition but will also prescribe instructions for home exercises and advice for you to take ownership of your health.
We pride ourselves on this unique collaborative relationship that has received positive feedback from our patients.
-
How should I prepare/dress for my first appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes earlier for your first appointment to complete registration.
We suggest that you dress comfortably and if possible, wear loose clothing that covers the area to be treated. For instance, jeans are not advisable if you have a knee-related condition.
You are also advised to bring along your referral letters, medical records, and medical imaging such as X-rays if any.
-
What can I expect at my first appointment?
During the first consultation, your physiotherapist will assess your condition by understanding your health history and conducting an evaluation of your posture, muscle and joint motion and performance.
After which, your physiotherapist will provide a clinical diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care and discuss short and long-term goals.
Treatment using modalities such as clinical massage and electrical stimulation may be performed dependent on your condition.
You can also expect to receive self-management recommendations with home exercises and physical aides prescribed if required.
-
What are the payment options available?
We accept all major debit and credit cards and cash as well as QRIS.
-
Does my health insurance cover the cost of Physiotherapy?
Wether your insurance covers policy covers physiotherapy or not depends on the company and policy, please check with your insurance broker or company.
We are actively looking to setup direct billing with all the major insurance companies. When this is available we will update this part of the website.
For claims we provide either printed or PDF-version invoices directly emailed to you.
